Oh, I think of that boat there on the sea,
tossing with waves and the wind contrary;
the disciples afraid, feeling alone;
then walking towards them God's only Son!

Yes, Jesus is here, in the last watch~
not in the place I would ask to be;
but as He says, "Come," I must step forth
and walk to Him upon life's stormy sea.

Then, I think of Peter, doubting 'twas He,
asking to walk there to Christ on the sea.
Only one way to go to be with Him,
though the waves roll high, so fearsome and grim.

My last watch is here and Jesus says, "Come."
This is the only way to Him and home.
